ZEHST - Green supersonic rocket

The European aerospace giant EADS on Sunday unveiled its plans for a "green supersonic transport" ZEHST ("Zero Emission Hypersonic Transportation"). The project was presented a day before the opening of the Le Bourget air show. As conceived by the European aircraft giant Airbus, the airliner will be different minimal emissions into the atmosphere. They hoped that by 2050 it will be able to fly the distance from Paris to Tokyo in just 2.5 hours.


Agence France-Presse reported that a 4-foot model Zehst will be presented and on display at Le Bourget. In accordance with the developments of aircraft designers, climb the new aircraft will use biofuels, and then will switch to rocket fuel.


Modern airliners fly at an altitude of 10 kilometers from the earth. It is planned that Zehst «rise" to 32 kilometers. Next to land, the pilot turns off the rocket engines and floats down to earth, just before the landing including conventional engines. During the flight airliner able to deliver to the destination of 50-100 passengers. European experts are developing the project jointly with Japanese colleagues.
